You can make the dream of Glen Ellyn’s History Park become a reality today.
Realizing the dream of creating a history park that will span over 175 years of Glen Ellyn history with a complex of museums, historic structures, research facilities, space for meetings and events, and lovely period gardens will require a meaningful investment by individuals, families and businesses in the Glen Ellyn community who want to lend their support to this effort.
Six funds, each addressing a different aspect of the planned History Park and its operation, have been established to allow donors to direct their contributions to a particular part of the plan if they so desire.
History Park Landscape Plan
Highlights of the landscape plan include features such as:
- A plaza at the corner of Main Street and Geneva Road with brick pavers, flag poles, benches and gas lanterns
- Trees, bushes and perennials appropriate to the 1800s
- A vegetable and herb garden behind Stacy’s Tavern Museum
- Shaded walkways connecting the Plaza and Stacy’s Tavern Museum
Phase one of the implementation will begin next month, depending on the weather and the avail-ability of volunteers. While skilled work will be handled by professional landscapers, many parts of this project will be implemented through the efforts of Historical Society members and others who want to volunteer their time. For the professional work and the purchase of materials, we need to raise $65,000 as quickly as possible. If you are able to make even a small contribution to help beautify the north gateway to Glen Ellyn, click here for a pledge card.
